We spend a whole lotta time focusing on our differences, telling ourselves we don’t need anyone else, and trying to do everything on our own. But why do we do this?

Because to be dependent means you can be let down, it means we are vulnerable. But to be dependent is to be human, we all need one another for support, love, & acceptance–we all deserve that! And we are all connected by this need, so let’s try to focus on our similarities and not our differences.

How can we shift our thinking? We all automatically differentiate and separate ourselves all day, whether we realize we are doing it or not. Next time you notice yourself making this automatic response, try & flip that coin. Instead of gazing down at the sidewalk as you pass the stranger on your way to work, look up and give them a smile; take a moment to ask someone how they are doing or tell them they are doing a good job!

Your kind word or smile may be the only positive interaction they have all day (or maybe all week), what a beautiful ripple effect your kind deeds can create. Acknowledging our similarities, our collective need for love, support, and acceptance, and embracing it allows us to  fully embrace the kindness of ourselves, each other & life!

We aren’t all too different, huh?

MUCH Love,
Jo Beth
