Aretha Franklin called out in those famous words for respect, one of the most catchy and famous lines in a song ever. I mean who doesn’t love some Aretha, right?

BUT are you brave enough to ask for respect for yourself?

Sometimes the hardest person we can ask to give us respect is ourselves. We would never treat others with such disrespect as we treat ourselves. We all are familiar with that golden rule, “treat others as you wish to be treated”, right? But do we apply that golden rule to ourselves, we should!

No one will ever show us respect, if we don’t first show ourselves some self-respect. Think of that song as your inner spirit singing to you…’all I’m askin’ is for a little respect!’

I challenge you this week to treat yourself with some serious respect. Realizing that respect from others comes with first respecting yourself. Self-respect is vital in realizing and embracing your own self worth! This week choose to treat yourself with the patience, forgiveness, and compassion with which you treat others.

Channel Aretha and ask for a little respect, because after all, all your askin’ is for a little respect when ya get home!

MUCH Love,
Jo Beth
