The idea of living for the moment has existed for centuries. I mean the phrase ‘Carpe Diem’ is in Latin, right? We are still reminding ourselves of this mantra today, living in the moment wasn’t cured eras ago. Living in the moment is something that all of us have to remember to do.
It is exciting to make plans for the future; it is nice to think about that hope & that greatness that the future holds. But when we are always looking forward, we forget to be present. THERE IS NO DAY BUT TODAY. Sounds morbid? But how much more fulfilled would we be in our day to day if we lived by that mantra?
I love this little phone meditation by Yoga Journal. YJ encourages you, when your phone rings, not to get up and rung to grab it on the first ring. But to let that chime of the phone remind you to be present in THIS moment! And then maybe on the 3rd or 4th ring to answer it.
So I challenge you TODAY to let go of the future plans, to let go of the past disappoints and be fully present in today. It’s hard! Being present takes constant reminders throughout your day, at the red light…take a moment, be present; when the phone rings…take a moment be present; when you feel your mind drifting…take a moment, be present.
Opening our eyes to the everyday miracles, teaching our minds to be present, and living for today will lead us to fully appreciating each moment of this glorious journey called life.
MUCH Love,
Jo Beth
