Fear is a funny thing, we all have it and it affects all of us differently. A lot of our fear rises out of the unknown…change. Change is risky and the unknown is scary because, well, it is unknown. We fear what we cannot control, what we cannot predict & see. We fear the unknown & change because it is a risk, it is uncomfortable, it is a chance.
But without risk, there is no reward and without change we cannot grow. Everyone has fear in their lives, fear about making decisions, fear about change, fear of taking risks. Courage is not having no fear; courage is embracing the fear so that you can triumph over it. Courage is embracing chance & having the faith to know it will all work out.
Think about where you are in life in this moment-your career, your relationships. Did you get to where you are by not taking any risks, by giving into fear by never stepping out of what was comfortable? No you have the life you have because you took a chance, because you embraced the fear & rose up with the courage of faith!
Without taking chances we gain nothing; without change we cannot grow; without risk we gain no reward; if we let our fear control us we are paralyzed. But when we learn to embrace our fear, & triumph over it, we are able to shine with courage and approach change & risk with grace and faith.
So how do we triumph over our fear, we must simply learn that our fear is a small part of us BUT that our courage is all of us.
“I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear. ” -Nelson Mandela
