Truly loving others begins with truly loving ourselves. We offer so much kindness and compassion to others, & little to ourselves. Why is it so hard to share that true love with ourselves, and how do we learn to cultivate it?
Sometimes it is hard to share true love with ourselves because we know ourselves so well. We are with ourselves all the time, we see our flaws & imperfections more than anyone. So how do we learn to look past those imperfections and into the love?
There are 3 steps we can follow that will help us begin to cultivate that deep self love.
#1: Forgiveness- We know all our flaws and imperfections intimately, we feel the shame and disappointment. In the same way that we forgive our loved ones because we love them, we need to learn to forgive ourselves because we truly love ourselves. Cut yourself some slack. Know that when you make a mistake and recognize it, that you are taking a great step to becoming better.
#2: Acceptance- Once we learn the kindness of forgiveness, we need to turn our focus towards acceptance. Choose to see all the beauty you posses! Learning & realizing that in this exact moment you are who you need to be, you are enough.
#3: Ecstatic Heart- Step three is ecstatic heart! What I mean by that is, now that you have forgiven and accepted yourself as you are, it is time to love yourself fully. Letting go of all negativity and cultivating that ecstatic self love. Choose to see yourself as the wondrous spirit that you are, with an ecstatic & open heart!
Cultivating deep true self love takes time & practice & patience. By taking these steps we can start on the journey to really love ourselves, so that in time we can learn to really love others!
